This is a great dish to bring to any party featuring pot luck appetizers. Easy to make, and most guests thoroughly enjoy it.

Chinese Five Spice Pork Tenderloin

INGREDIENTS

1 cup of soy sauce or shoyu sauce

1 Tbs dry mustard

1 Tbs sesame oil

2 Tbs honey (can use brown sugar as a substitute)

1.5 tsp dry ginger

1 tsp white pepper

5 cloves crushed garlic

1/2 cup of canola oil or safflower oil

2 green onions (green parts only, chopped into a few pieces)

2 lbs pork tenderloin (thinner piece or pieces are better)

Chinese five spice (for seasoning, just before putting in the oven)

Garnish:

Chinese hot mustard

Ketchup (our favorite is Heinz Organic)

Sesame seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

Mix sauce ingredients in a freezer bag. Put pork tenderloin in the bag and seal. Toss around to cover the tenderloin. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator (up to 24 hours).

Pull tenderloin out of the refrigerator, a half an hour before cooking. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place tenderloin in a baking dish. Sprinkle Chinese five spice across the top of the tenderloin. Pat the spice into the tenderloin. Bake for 45 minutes. If you have an instant read thermometer, the tenderloin should measure 145 degrees Fahrenheit. Pull out of oven and place tenderloin on a cutting board. Tent with aluminum foil. Let rest for 10 minutes. Cut into slices.

Place on a dish to serve. Have Chinese hot mustard, ketchup and sesame seeds in separate small bowls, so guests can garnish as they like.

NOTES

Serves six as a side dish (if used as a side dish, instead of for a party).
