Horse Racing Tips for Breeders' Cup Saturday 10/31/26

Breeders' Cup Saturday, Keeneland, Saturday, October 31st:
Here are our picks from Team Otis (Outstanding Thoroughbred Investment Syndicate) for the Breeders' Cup Saturday card at Del Mar. As always, we do our best to help you make money on these big days.
Check out our Printify store to buy horse racing and poker t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, etc. If you are into daily fantasy sports, go to TriSync Sports to see who charts to do well today.
The A horses are our top picks that we think are the most likely winners, and an A+ horse should be a single on most horizontal tickets. Any B+ horse is not quite a top pick, but offers good value at a nice price and is treated almost the same as an A horse for wagering purposes. B horses look solid and have a good chance to win as well. C horses are used as savers. Sometimes they are price horses that have a shot to finish in the money, or they may be a low odds horse we are trying to beat.
The suggested wagers are our best opinion on how to bet. For those on a limited budget, the win bets, exactas and daily doubles are the best option. The Pick 5 wager pricing is the cost when playing 50 cent ticket combinations. All times are Pacific.

Race 1 (8:15 AM):
This is the start of the early Pick 5 that ends in Race 5. Our A horses are #2 Highwaymen 6/1 and #7 Bourbon Neat 8/1. The B horse is #4 Knicks Diamonds 10/1. The C horses are #11 Overtime Bonus 12/1 and #8 Supreme Commander 5/1.
Going with two first time starters in this one, #2 Highwaymen and #7 Bourbon Neat. Think both will be ready to go and one of them will be better than the rest. #4 Knicks Diamonds is a second time starter, who should improve of his initial effort, which was a good one.

#9 Right In Time will be on the lead in this race, and #6 She’s Toasty will be closing down the stretch, so we have this race surrounded. The #3 Master Queen looks solid for the show.

Race 3 Fall Harvest Stakes (9:25 AM):
Our A horses are #1 Booth 4/1 and #12 Here Mi Song 15/1. The C horses are #11 Saudi Crown 5/2 and #2 Steeze 8/1
This looks like a wide open race, as I didn’t see any horses with any strong recent races. Just hoping that the #1 Booth, or the #12 Here Mi Song can run back to one of their races from a couple of months ago. Win: #12, Daily Double: #1, #12 with 2 Daily Double: #1, #12 with #2, #8, #11

Our A horse is the favorite, #2 Ways and Means 7/5. The B horses are #8 Kerry’s Kiss 20/1 and #11 Explora 4/1. The C horses are #4 R Disaster 8/1 and #7 Evanescence 15/1.
The favorite, #2 Ways and Means should be tough at this seven furlong distance. Should only get beat if she doesn’t like the track surface. #8 Kerry’s Kiss will have to improve, but his trainer has had success in the next race, after running a horse in the Princess Rooney Stakes.

Race 5 BC Turf Sprint (10:48 AM):
This is the start of the middle Pick 5 that ends in Race 9. Our A horses are #11 Joe Sheisty 10/1 and #13 Starlust (GB) 20/1 The B horses are the favorite, #7 Comanche Brave (IRE) 3/1 and #6 Yellow Card 8/1. The C horses are #3 Bacio 5/2, #4 Roja 30/1, and #10 Cy Fair 8/1. The BC Turf Sprint is a wide-open race, most of the time, with this year being no exception. We are trying to get one of two long shots home on top. #11 Joe Sheisty should be able to get position, on or near the lead, and #13 Starlust (GB), the winner of the BC Turf Sprint in 2024, should be closing from the back of the pack. #7 Commanche Brave (IRE) will be closing down the stretch as well, and #6 Yellow Card has a versatile running style, meaning the jockey should be able to get a good trip with him.

Race 6 BC Dirt Mile (11:26 AM):
Our A horse is #9 Forged Steel 15/1 The B+ horses are #2 T Kraft 15/1 and #10 Owen Almighty 10/1. The C horse is the favorite, #1 Further Ado 2/1.
The best horses that considered entering this race, decided to try and win the Classic instead. That leaves the door open for long shots in this race, as the favorite, #1 Further Ado looks vulnerable. He does love Keeneland, but doesn’t necessarily have to win.

Race 7 BC Filly & Mare Turf (12:04 PM): (Scratch #2 Evershed)
Our A horse is #12 Blue Bolt (IRE) 5/2. The B horse is #11 Precise (IRE) 7/2. The C horses are #1 Gimme A Nother 10/1, #5 Kathynmarissa 5/1 and #8 Jancis (IRE) 20/1.
#12 Blue Bolt (IRE) seems to tower over this field, as she has beaten Precise (IRE) three times already this year. I believe this horse is the most likely winner of the day.

Race 8 BC Sprint (12:42 PM):
This BC race is the start of the late Pick 5 that ends in Race 12. Our A horses are #1 Mad House 30/1 and the heavy favorite, #13 Englishman 4/5. The B horse is #5 Listenupchance 12/1 The C horses are #7 Built 10/1, #4 Hymn 15/1 and #10 Roll On Big Joe 30/1.
#13 Englishman is the obvious standout in this race. Trainer Cherie DeVaux thinks this may be the best horse in her barn, and she trains this year’s Kentucky Derby and Belmont winner, Golden Tempo. I took a big shot on #1 Mad House in this race last year, and he showed absolutely nothing. Just like last year, he has lots of patterns that match past winners of the BC Sprint. Worth trying him one more time.

Our A horse is #8 Notable Speech (GB) 7/5. The B horses are #9 Rhetorical 8/1 and #1 Deterministic 8/1. The C horse is #5 Ask Ikigomi (JPN) 20/1.
Notable Speech (GB) is likely to be one of the lowest-odds favorites on the day, and very likely to win as well. #9 Rhetorical loves the Keeneland turf course, and #1 Deterministic lost to #8 Notable Speech last time out by a length and a quarter. Will try to take a comfortable lead out of the gate, from the one hole.

Our A horse is #2 Nitrogen 6/5. The B horse is #4 Fully Subscribed 8/5. The C horse is #1 Immersive 30/1.
This doesn’t look like the greatest betting race, especially after the scratches.#8 Nitrogen will be tough to beat, but #4 Fully Subscribed is no slouch. #1 Immersive is the interesting horse. Still waiting to see this four-year-old filly improve off of her outstanding season last year. Has the talent to do more.

Race 11 BC Turf (2:36 PM): (Scratch #8 Test Score)
Our A horses are #2 Benvenuto Cellini (IRE) 6/1 and #13 Bay City Roller (IRE) 5/1.The B horse is #5 El Cordobes (IRE) 15/1. The C horse is #7 Hotazhell (GB) 15/1.
#2 Benvenuto Cellini (IRE) 6/1 should like the counter-clockwise direction since he won the Chester Vase Stakes, and broke his maiden, going in that direction. #13 Bay Citty Roller (IRE) is one of the few horses in the world that could handle running in so many big races in such a short amount of time. This will be his fourth start since September 6th. El Cordobes (IRE) is trained by the great, Charlie Appleby, and finished third in this race last year.
Win: #2, Daily Double: #2 with #5, Daily Double: #2, #13 with #5 Daily Double: #2, #5, #7, #13 with #5
Race 12 BC Classic (3:16 PM): (Scratch: #6 Magnitude)
Our A horse is #5 Forever Young (JPN) 2/1. Our C horses are #2 Sovereignty 5/2, #3 Golden Tempo 5/1, and #7 Knightsbridge 9/2.
This looks to be a great race when looking at the past performances, but I think it sets up perfectly for Forever Young (JPN), especially after the scratch of #6 Magnitude. There should be enough speed to set up an honest pace, he should get a good trip, to start making up ground on the turn, and cruise to the front before Sovereignty can get to him. They probably only had him at about a 75% fitness level in his last start, just to make sure he is at his peak for this race. Will only be the second horse to pull off the BC Classic twice. All systems go.
Win: #5
