Here are our picks from Team Otis (Outstanding Thoroughbred Investment Syndicate) for the Breeders' Cup Friday card at Keeneland. BC Friday is a chance to get a first look at some future stars. NOTE: Some changes in place due to scratches.

The A horses are our top picks that we think are the most likely winners, and an A+ horse should be a single on most horizontal tickets. Any B+ horse is not quite a top pick, but offers good value at a nice price and is treated almost the same as an A horse for wagering purposes. B horses look solid and have a good chance to win as well. C horses are used as savers. Sometimes they are price horses that have a shot to finish in the money, or they may be a low odds horse we are trying to beat.

The suggested wagers are our best opinion on how to bet. For those on a limited budget, the win bets, exactas and daily doubles are the best option. The Pick 5 wager pricing is the cost when playing 50 cent ticket combinations. All times Pacific.

This turf sprint is the start of the late Pick 5 that ends in Race 10. Our A horses are #9 Final Objective (IRE) 8/1 and #3 Libertango (IRE) 5/2. The B+ horse is #7 Crownbreaker (IRE) 20/1. The C horse is #1 Moonrise (IRE) 12/1. NOTE: Pick 5s starting in this race have been updated to account for the scratch of #11 Man's Best Friend (IRE) and #14 Great Barrier Reef (IRE) in Race 10. Final Objective (IRE) can be erratic down the stretch, but is better since he was gelded. Should be coming down the stretch. Libertango (IRE) should be closing at the end as well. She just finished a length behind Sun Goddess (IRE), the heavy favorite in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. There should be an honest early pace to set things up for the closers. Crownbreaker (IRE) just lost to Final Objective (IRE) by a neck in their last race.

Emphatic looks strong on paper and Manuka Honey is an undefeated filly, looking good in the morning, and the team of jockey Luis Saez for Brian A. Lynch wins at a 45% rate.

The C horses are #12 Domestic Agenda 8/1, #6 Alwaysanangel (IRE) 15/1, and #5 De La Renta 30/1. NOTE: #4 Serenas Ghost was scratched, so #5 De La Renta is the replacement on any previous tickets. On paper, Sun Goddess (IRE) is the obvious stand out in this race. The distance is a slight question mark, and there is a chance she may break slowly from the gate. Green Empress (IRE) has lost to Sun Goddess three times, but she has won at the mile distance, and the inside post should work to her advantage as well. Win: #1, Daily Double: #1, #9 with #5

Our A horse is the favorite #5 Hughes 1/1. The B horses are #6 American History 9/2 and #3 Salahudin 8/1.

I expect Hughes to be on the lead, or just off the lead, controlling the early pace. If he goes a very fast pace, our other two horses have a chance to close down the stretch to catch him, otherwise, he should be long gone. #3 Salahudin is a big, athletic horse, developing quickly, has looked great on the track in the mornings. Looks like a Kentucky Derby horse for next year.

This looks to be a wide open race. Our A horse is #11 Man’s Best Friend (IRE) 15/1. The B+ horse is #3 Florida Bay (IRE) 20/1. The B horses are #4 Haffner 8/1 and #14 Great Barrier Reef (IRE) 4/1. The C horse is #10 Folsom Blues (IRE) 7/2. NOTE: Our top horse, #11 Man's Best Friend (IRE) is a scratch and now #14 Great Barrier Reef is scratched as well. Everyone moves up a spot on the previous tickets, with #7 Let Em Know entering the picture and #9 Sale Shark getting in exactas and trifectas, and #10 Folsom Blues (IRE), now on the Pick 5 tickets that start in Race 6.

Trainer Aidan O’Brien has won the last four runnings of this race. Our top four horses are all trained by O’Brien and the other one is trained by his son, Jospeh O’Brien. We will see which of these European runners thrives in America.
